A Side Table or a Lamp Table.

There is quite a lot of confusion regarding the differences between a side table and a lamp table but there really shouldn’t be because the only real difference is the spelling and the sound of the two phrases.  When we consider the functionality and the athletics, which are obviously amongst the more important aspects of any item of furniture the two are in fact, at their most basic the exact same thing, which is a small table that can really be placed anywhere in a room but most commonly at the side of a sofa or a chair for the purpose of putting things on whether it be a lamp or a drink.
The basic fact is that these side tables are categorized differently by different retailers so even if they have chosen to call it a lamp table and placed a lamp on top of it for the photograph this does not mean that it cannot be used as a side table because after all the lamp is not attached or in fact included in the package on most occasions.
So if you are looking for a side table then don’t think that your choice is narrow because your search should always include lamp tables and at the end of the day if you like it and it fits with your décor then you will buy it whatever it is advertised as.  After all you would not discourage someone from placing a cup of tea on your new table because it was advertised as a coffee table, or one day say, ‘I think we are over using that new table that I bought’ Why? ‘Because it is an occasional table.
