Side Tables with Storage

When we think of a side table the majority of us will probably see a small table top at the side of a chair or a sofa for placing drinks, magazines or decorative pieces on, which is quite right as this is their main function.  However, there is so much more that you can get from a side table, whether it be more smaller tables in the form of a nest of tables or a single side table that incorporates storage options.
The simplest description of the storage available in theses side tables can be split into three groups, the first of which is a side table with a shelf or shelves, these designs usually consist of a shelf close to the floor and possible one half way up so whatever is being stored is still visible, which makes this option perfect for storing books or magazines.
The second option is a draw or drawers, which may more commonly be found in a bedside table but can be equally as practical in a side table that is situated in the living room for removing any clutter from sight such as remote controls that are seldom used or spare batteries etc.
Finally is the storage cabinet or cupboard, which is very similar to the shelf option except it gives you the option of hiding whatever it is that is being stored with the cabinet door, and depending on the material used to build your side table the door may be wooden of glass, which of course makes it see through.
There are obviously benefits to having a side table with storage and the option that you choose is basically down to what you wish to store, however, if the ability to store is not a concern then just a normal side table may be most suitable as it is easier to move around the room if required.
